At the end of a school year, the achievement of our pupils in different stages in the school is judged against National figures for attainment and progress. These assessments are done using a combination of statutory tests (SATs / Phonics Screening Check) and teacher assessments.
Summary (2019)
The attainment of our Year 6 pupils' attainment was (for the fourth year in a row) significantly above that of their peers nationally overall, as 95% of them achieved the expected standard in Mathematics, Reading and Writing. The national figure for this was only 65%. This is an outstanding result. As well, the percentage of pupils who met the expected standard in Mathematics (98%), Reading (96%), Writing (95%) and Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling (96%) separately was also well above the national average.
In terms of the progress the children made (judged from the end of Year 2 to the end of Year 6), the Department for Education system gives a 'value-added' measure where the progress of each Year 6 pupil is compared with every child in the country who achieved similar results in Year 2. On that basis, the Year 6 cohort achieved positive progress measures in all three subjects. This means our Year 6 children as a whole progressed much higher than pupils nationally who had the same attainment at Year 2. We will state the actual progress figures once they become available.
Examination of the attainment of our Year 2 pupils shows that our end of Key Stage 1 results were also above the National averages as follows:
Attained the expected standard in all of Reading, Writing & Maths - 77% (National 65%)
Attained the expected standard in Reading - 80% (National was 75%)
Attained the expected standard in Writing - 82% (National was 69%)
Attained the expected standard in Maths - 78% (National was 76%)
Phonics
In addition, 88% of our Year 1 pupils met the required standard of the National Phonics Screening Check which exceeds the national average of 82%. This is a credit to all their hard work as well as that of our staff in Nursery, Reception and Year 1.
EYFS
77% of our Reception pupils attained a 'Good Level of Development', which is also above the national average (72%).
We are so proud of the children for their hard work and dedication and to our staff who have worked extremely hard to provide the best possible education for all our pupils.
