At Hereward Primary School, it is our intention to inspire children with a love and curiosity about the world around them, its people within and the processes that contribute to the changing climate.
Through the teaching of Geography, it is our aim to:
Develop a child’s knowledge and understanding of local and globally significant places;
Enhance their awareness of human and physical characteristics and how they change over time;
Foster an enquiring mind, where the children will ask questions, and give them opportunities to explore the world to answer them;
Promote awareness and understanding of the world’s ethnic, cultural and economic diversity
Develop empathy for current events that are occurring.
The National Curriculum for Geography aims to ensure that all pupils:
develop knowledge of the location of globally significant places, including defining their physical and human characteristics;
understand the processes that give rise to key physical and human geographical features of the world;
communicate geographical information in a variety of ways, including through maps and writing at length.
