MEET OUR FOREST SCHOOL LEAD

 

 

Mrs Gilbert is one of our Teaching Assistants who has worked at Hereward for several years. Over the last year, she has helped to establish the school garden and is now running the Forest School programme. Her enthusiasm and love of the outdoors is catching and the children love spending time with her. She says ‘Forest Schools is a long-term outdoor education process that is holistic and learner led. It encourages children to develop themselves through healthy engagement with problem solving and self-discovery. Being outdoors helps children to build resilience in a natural environment through hands-on activities. All forms of outdoor learning are valuable, but Forest Schools have their own philosophies and ethos that benefit children in unique ways.’ We look forward to sharing future Forest School events with you.
