HEREWARD CELEBRATES ITS 60th BIRTHDAY IN STYLE

It is 60 years ago this year that Hereward Primary School first moved to Loughton after being in temporary accommodation in Chingford. The children across the school participated in a variety of activities during Spring term linked to the six decades of Hereward's existence. They learned about life in those times, cultural and community differences and how food, fashion, leisure facilities and music has changed.

On Wednesday 17th April, the children (and many staff) came to school dressed in the fashion of a particular decade or wearing something redolent of the period; for example, one child had a Millennium Dome hat and another was very creatively attired as the dreaded 'Millennium Bug' from the same period!

Please look at the gallery below to see the range of costumes worn by the children and staff which reflect the huge changes in fashion since Hereward Primary School first moved to Loughton in 1953.
